Artikel 47: Signing of laws, Royal Decrees; countersignature

Artikel 47

All Acts of Parliament and Royal Decrees shall be signed by the King and by one or more Ministers or State Secretaries.

Explanation

Please note: Only the Dutch-language version of the Constitution has legal effect.

All laws and royal decrees must be signed not only by the King but also by one or more ministers or state secretaries. This is called the counter-signature. It indicates which minister and/or state secretary is responsible.
